Can I rename my homepage?
Yes, that is possible. However, the name change can only be processed if the sender is the email address with which the site is registered with us.
Please tell our support via your email (not via a contact form) your homepage name and your email and also how the website should be named in the future. We will then activate the new name immediately. Special characters are not possible. Your data will be taken over or remain unchanged, but you will need new user data for logging in, which we will send you after the name change. The renaming can take 2-3 working days. Please be patient.
If you just made a mistake and haven't created any content yet, please work with page4 for a few days and if you are then sure that our system is the right one, you can always have the name changed.
If you want to change the name, i.e. the domain, of a purchased version, then this is a chargeable process, as we have to register a new domain.
Can I edit (rotate, crop, etc.) images that I have uploaded?
For what purpose are images loaded into an administration?
When you upload images to your page4 website, they are automatically stored in the image management. You can also go directly to the administration, upload images there and then use them on your page. In the administration you can sort the images into folders and keep track of them.
The good thing is, you can use an image as often as you want on your site, but you only have to upload it once. If you embed an image in a content, a link to the original is set in the administration and not the image itself is uploaded to the content. If you delete the content, the image remains available.
Can I delete images from the administration if they are still in use?
It is important that you do not delete images from the administration when they are used. Otherwise, the images can no longer be displayed. Since our system creates a copy of each image in the size you use, you may not notice that the original is missing. However, visitors who visit your site for the first time will not see the image, because the display image can only be generated if the original is present.
So be careful when deleting images. You can show in the administration which images are unused but unfortunately there are content areas where you can include an image but the administration does not notice that the image is used. In case of doubt it is better not to delete.
Can I transfer a website with content from another provider to page4?

If you have a website with the provider Jimdo and use the version "Creator" there, that is the normal version that has been around for a long time, then we have good news for you. We can read most of the content, page structure and more with a converter and copy it to a new page4 website. All pages you want copied must be visible.
This saves you a lot of work. After that you have to create the design and eventually restructure the pages, which is very easy with Page4. If you want to use this service, write me directly an email (mfs@page4.com) and tell us your current Jimdo page. We will then check if this is possible. We have done this several times and so far all customers were satisfied, because it saves a lot of time.
For all other systems:
No, this is currently not possible. You have to make the effort to recreate the page structure and then manually copy the old contents into the respective contents on the individual pages.
What does traffic and web space mean?
Webspace: For your website we reserve disk space on our servers. If you upload images or documents, these files will be stored on our hard disks. Also the creation of pages and content causes data that occupy disk space. This space on a server hard disk is also called web space. If you upload images that are too large, this space will be used up very quickly. 50 MB is enough to store 50 images of 1 MB each. If the images are only 100 Kb each, 500 images can be stored. Optimize your images before you upload them. If the space is no longer sufficient, you have two options. You delete images that you do not use or you upgrade to a larger version with more storage space.
Can I include PHP code in my homepage?
Can several administrators work on the homepage at the same time?
Can I set a separate password for the protected area for each visitor to my website?
What will come is the possibility to create as many differently protected areas as you want, each using its own password. However, a date for this is open. This option will be available only for purchase versions.
Can I use background music on my homepage?
Just create a HTML section on the page where you want the music to be played and copy the code you received from an external provider into it. The code remains deactivated in admin mode to prevent that faulty code blocks the admin area and you lock yourself out. After logging out the code will work normally. The content from the HTML section is placed in the body of the page.
The music plays as long as you are on the page. If you switch to another page the music stops. It is not possible with the technique we use to insert music that plays permanently even if the visitor switches between pages.
What happens if I forget to confirm the confirmation email?
Does my page4 contract automatically renew at the end of the term?
If you want to terminate the contract, you should react at the latest when we send you the notice that the contract will be renewed soon. Please cancel in writing by email or mail and tell us what you want. We need to know if you want to move to another provider or if you want to delete your domain and website. Since you are the owner of your domain, it is necessary that you tell us what you want us to do with your domain after the contract expires.
Can I take data from the free version with me to the purchase version?
If you are in logged in mode on your free page, you can initiate the ordering process for the page4 purchase version with transfer of the content from your free version by clicking on the "green button with white plus symbol" Upgrade Premium. Then all content from the free version will be transferred to your new purchase version, provided you complete and confirm the order. In the course of the order process you only have to fill in the required personal data and your desired domain.
Note: After successful ordering via the Upgrade Premium button, the contents of the free version will be transferred to the purchase version and receive a new DNS entry. Therefore, in the following 24 hours of the order, the homepage of the formerly free version is not available. Please be patient until the data has been updated and your free version is available again.
The content from the free version was not transferred to the purchase version. What can I do?
If you did not initiate the order process for the purchase version in the logged-in mode of your free version, but placed the order via the order form on our homepage, it is best to inform us of this by email. Please mention your customer number and the name of the free version.
Our technical department will then carry out the copying process. You should not work on the free version or the purchased version for about 1-3 days after you have informed us, to avoid data loss or complications.
The free version will not be deleted, but may not be available for at least 24 hours after the copying process has been completed.
Copying the content in this case is only possible if both the free page4 version and the page4 purchase version have been registered or ordered with one and the same email address. If this is not the case, we need proof that you are the owner of both the free version and the purchase version, and we may have to charge a handling fee for the copying process, as the effort is much higher.
I would like to switch to the purchase version. However, the same content as in the new purchase version should continue to be displayed via the address of the free version. Do I then have to maintain 2 websites?
No, you don't have to. If you have entered the name of the free version when ordering the purchase version, the contents of the free version will be completely transferred to the purchase version.
Note: If you are logged in to the free version and upgrade to the purchase version by clicking the "Plus" icon (Upgrade Premium), our system will automatically take care of this step for you.
Once you have completed the order process, you will receive an email from us with a confirmation link that you must click to confirm the order.
You will then receive another message from us with the access data for your new purchase version. The address of the free version will then be unavailable for about 24 hours.
In the future, please only use the access data for your purchase version to edit your homepage. All changes you make now will also be displayed on the web address of your previous free site.
So you only have to maintain one homepage. There will also be no duplicate content, because only the address of the free site will now be linked to the same content together with the new domain.
I just ordered a purchase version. Now my free site is no longer accessible. What happened?
You will have specified when ordering that you want to transfer the contents of the free version to the purchase version. Your content will now be transferred to the purchase version, will receive a different DNS entry and will therefore not be available in the following 24 hours.
In the future, please only use the access data for your purchase version, which you received from us in connection with the order confirmation, to edit your homepage. All changes you make now will still be shown on the address of your free site, unless you explicitly tell us to disable it.
Can I use the purchased versions commercially?
What is the contract period for a purchase version?
The contract period of a page4 purchase version is 12 months and is tacitly extended by another 12 months if the user does not cancel the contract within the border of the cancellation period. Notice of termination must be received by page4 Ltd. no later than 4 weeks prior to the expiration of the contract.
The cancellation must be in written form. Cancellation by email is permissible.
The cancellation is only considered as received when the provider confirms the cancellation.
We will inform you about the upcoming renewal in time before the 4 week period expires and ask you to react as soon as possible if you want to change anything in the contract.
I would like to cancel. What do I have to consider?
The cancellation of your Page4 contract can be done by email. Cancellation must be received by us at least 4 weeks before the contract expires. The cancellation must be in written form. Cancellation by email is allowed, but the sender must be the email address under which your page is registered with us. The cancellation is only considered to be received when we, as the contracting party, have confirmed the cancellation. See also our terms and conditions on our website.
Please tell us in your cancellation how you want to proceed with your domain.
Domain cancellation/deletion
In case of a cancellation/deletion of the domain, you lose all rights and obligations to the domain and the domain can be registered by other persons in the future. Tell us in your cancellation when you want the domain to be cancelled/deleted. Immediately or at the end of the contract. If you request the cancellation/deletion of your domain immediately, you can still access your account via the technical address until the end of the contract.
Domain Provider Change
If you want to transfer your domain from our servers to another provider, please request the Auth Code for your domain in connection with your page4 contract cancellation. For the transfer of a .de domain we do not need a KK request from your new provider. For the transfer of .com, .org, ch, .net, .biz domains, please request a KK application from your new provider and send it to us, filled out and signed by you, by fax or mail.
Note: Domains ending in .com, .org, .info, .net, .biz are subject to a 60-day block by the respective registry after the new order. During this time a domain can neither be cancelled nor moved to another provider.
Can I export the data of my page4 purchase version 1:1 to the homepage of another provider after termination of the contract?
No, unfortunately this is not possible. If you plan to present your content created with Page4 at another provider in the future, start copying the data in time and add it there. Be careful to copy only content and not source code. If you copy text from your page while logged out, additional information will be copied that the new provider will not be able to handle and that can lead to problems.
Links to your page4 page that you have stored on the web will probably not work after a move, because every provider implements the naming of a page differently.
At the end of the contract, your page4 homepage including all content will be irrevocably deleted and you will no longer have access to it. If necessary, you can save the HMTL structure of your page4 site locally with a free program or with your browser to be able to access it again.
Please also note that you always save the original images of your website locally, so that you don't have to download them from your website. Our system, and other systems do similar, creates a version of each image with the actual display size. If you display an image that is 1,500 x 1,000 px in its original size on your website at a size of 150 x 100 px and then save this displayed image, the image will also only be 150 x 100 px and thus much smaller than your original image.
Is it possible to convert a purchased version into a free version?
In principle, this is possible. However, this creates a not inconsiderable amount of work, which we have to charge you once, The websites of our customers are located on other servers than the free versions. Therefore we have to copy the data and also we have to remove all data, which were created with functions of a purchase version, because they can't be edited anymore.
Please ask in advance what the fee is for this. If you agree, we will send you an invoice and after payment of the invoice your homepage will be converted. Of course all functions of a purchase version will be lost including the data (documents for download, saved design templates etc.) and your email accounts with us will be deleted.
I have not received an invoice for the following year. What is the reason for this?
You may have deleted the email address you used to order the site from us, but are still using it to log in. You may have marked a message from us as "spam" and your email program has since placed all messages from us in the Spam or Junk Email folder. Please check these folders. If you no longer use or access the email address you provided during registration, please contact our support team immediately.
Unfortunately, we cannot check if you really receive our emails and we will have to block your website if you do not respond to our reminder. Data will not be lost, but if you use the website intensively and for business, you will not leave a positive impression if your customers come to a blocked website. Therefore, make sure that we always have the current data from you, so that you can be reached.
