When you view your web page in the browser, most web pages and design templates have the content of your web page in the center of the browser with a clear margin to the left and right. The width of your web page is thus between 600 and 1,500 px, while on larger monitors your browser is even wider, so that there is free space to the left and right. This area outside your website is the background you can design with Page4. A well-designed background combined with slightly transparent areas in which the content of your website is displayed creates a modern, positive look. However, you must always keep in mind that many visitors use a notebook, a laptop and the screen there is much smaller than the large 24 and more inch screen on your desk. In order for your website to make the perfect impression everywhere, it is very important to think about the background as well.
Components of the background
Currently, the background of your website can be set with a color (2) and/or with one or more background images (3). You can include up to 10 images. With the "delay" you define how fast the images should be displayed. The fading is done with CSS. You define the order of the images by clicking on the pencil and selecting and sorting the thumbnails with the mouse in the dialog that opens.
The background color (2)
You can choose any color for the background. If you choose a transparency value, the color will be lightened with white, because the default background of the browser is usually white (#FFFFFF). If you delete the background color, the white background of the browser will appear.
The background color is always below the background image. If you create a color and add an image, you will not see the color unless the background image is transparent or does not cover the background completely. When the page is loaded in the browser for the first time, the background has to be loaded from the server into the cache of your browser. Depending on the size of the image, this loading may take some time. Displaying a background color, on the other hand, happens without any loss of time. So if you have set a color, the visitor will see this color first until the image is displayed later. If you use a background color that is also present in the image or that reflects the mood of the image, your visitor will not find the display of the background color annoying. However, if the color has nothing to do with the image or the design of your page, this contrast will irritate the eye and be distracting. So choose the right color carefully. The first impression is important.
The background image (3)
We provide you with several hundred motifs for your background in our library. All images are available in the size 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. This means that the images in their original size will fill even large monitors. Of course you can always upload your own background image. Make sure that it is not so big in terms of file size, so that the loading times remain acceptable and that the dimensions are sufficient for what you have in mind. If you want your image to go over the entire browser background, no matter how big the monitor is, you should stick to the above dimensions. You also have several options to scale and adjust the background image.
